IB Program

 IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.

To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment.

These programs encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

The International Baccalaureate (IBA) was founded in the 1960s as a non-profit educational foundation. The International Baccalaureate Organization is based in Geneva, Switzerland, and is recognized worldwide for high standards, articulated expectations, and rigorous curriculum. The IBA is an international symbol of academic integrity and intellectual promise and has participating schools in over 100 countries around the world.

Welcome to the IB Program at Amundsen High School. Amundsen has been authorized to offer the Diploma Program since 1999, the Middle Years Program since 2003, and the IB Career-related Program since 2018.  The IB Program offers students an opportunity to have a well-rounded and rigorous college preparatory curriculum in a neighborhood school. The IB Program provides students with the discipline and skills necessary to take on future endeavors. Besides an excellent academic education that prepares them for post-secondary study, the IB Program gives students an opportunity to build character and perseverance to become future leaders in the community.

Incoming freshmen wishing to apply to the Amundsen IB Program need to complete an application via GoCPS.  Transfer students interested in Amundsen's other IB Programs should contact the school directly.
