Parent-Teacher Conferences Monday, November 21st, 12pm-6:15pm

Amundsen High School would like to remind families that Parent-Teacher Conferences (Report Card Pick-Up) will be held in the East and West Gyms on Monday, November 21st, from 12pm to 6:15pm. All families are encouraged to attend this important event. This is a great opportunity to pay school fees, purchase Amundsen swag, and to get to know your child's teachers. Please note that school will be closed for the remainder of the week and that school will resume on Monday, November 28th, at 7:45am.

Principal Candidate Forum November 1st

As part of the principal selection process, the Amundsen Local School Council (LSC) has called a special meeting on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, at 6pm in the Amundsen auditorium. This meeting includes a public forum for principal candidate AP Kristi Eilers to address the school community, which you are invited and encouraged to attend. After AP Eilers’ public address, there will be a Q&A session with her moderated by the LSC based on your questions and the questions of LSC members. Your questions must be submitted via Google form by 11:00am on November 1st. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you at the November 1 meeting. Amundsen Parents, You’re Invited!

Please join “A Conversation Among Parents About Teen Mental Health” on Thursday, October 27, 6:30-8:00pm, in-person at Amundsen. All Amundsen parents and guardians are welcome; no registration or RSVP needed.

This is the first activity of the school year hosted by the AHS Mental Health Awareness Initiative (AMHAI). The AMHAI was started in spring 2022 by Amundsen parents and staff as a way to bring attention to and help support the unprecedented mental health challenges facing our school community in the wake of the pandemic.

Viking Theatre Company Fundraiser

The Viking Theatre Company is selling shirts and hoodies to replace the lighting system in the Amundsen auditorium. For every 100 items sold, AHS can replace 1 of the auditorium lights. The logo was designed by an Amundsen student. Orders are due by Saturday, November 12 and shirts should arrive to school before Thanksgiving. Email Ms. Bean ([email protected]) with any questions. Viking Theatre Company Presents 12 Angry Jurors. Get your tickets now!

Viking Theatre Company presents our fall play on November 11 (4pm) and 12 (1pm and 6pm). Set in the 1950s, a 19-year-old has just stood trial for the fatal stabbing of his father. The jury room gets personal with each juror revealing his or her own character as the various testimonies are re-examined, the murder is re-enacted and a new murder threat is born before their eyes!

Alumni Game Day & Viking Social

Please join us on October 8th for Alumni Game Day and a Viking Social beginning with a 4pm Football Game Kickoff (at Winnemac)
On field recognition of all Alumni attending game will take place at Half-Time.
A Viking Social (adults only) will follow the game at Claddagh Ring Pub at 2306 W. Foster Ave. 6:30-8:30pm. Tickets for Viking Social can be purchased at the link.

AHS Parent Series "Navigating College Testing"

Parents, join Amundsen's Parent Advisory Council (PAC) on Wednesday, October 19, at 6pm, for “Navigating College Testing,” a virtual session presented by Joy Mollet of BEC Tutoring. Joy has been helping Chicago families navigate the college admissions process since 2014. Registration is required for this session. Register by clicking on the link above.

AHS Parent Series "Engaged and Empowered Parenting"

Parents, join Amundsen's Parent Advisory Council (PAC) on Wednesday, November 2, at 6pm, for “Engaged and Empowered Parenting,” presented by Ted Neitzke, a motivational keynote speaker with decades of experience as an educator. Ted’s presentation last February was a highlight of the 2021-22 Parent Series, and we’re excited to welcome him back for this in-person event at Amundsen.
