Tristan Arnold

I'm excited to be joining Amundsen this fall! For the last 15 years I have been teaching music in the San Francisco Bay Area, most recently directing orchestras at the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts in San Francisco. While Northern California is where I grew up and began my career, my Bachelor of Music in Music Education came from Northwestern University, so I like to think I'm prepared for the Winter.
While in San Francisco I received a Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from San Francisco State University and certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. In addition to conducting the Napa Valley Youth Symphony and the Santa Rosa Symphony, I played upright and electric bass in a variety of roles, from a bluegrass band to a cruise ship in Alaska.
I love connecting students with the music that I love, and connecting with students through their musical preferences. I love teaching music because I have the opportunity to teach math, science, history, anthropology, and sociology. Music study empowers students to connect on an emotional level with one another and musicians throughout the world and throughout history.
