Service Learning

All CPS students are required to complete a minimum of two different Service Learning Projects in order to meet the high school graduation requirements in CPS. One of those projects must be completed in civics, which is taught during the students' junior year at Amundsen.

Service Learning requires a student  to apply knowledge and skills learned in the classroom, from all content areas, to make a positive difference in their community. Students learn about issues impacting the world around them and utilize learning from the classroom and apply it in a real world setting. The service students provide is tightly woven to the content being learned in the classroom. A student who volunteers their own time, with a non-profit organization or at an event, does not meet the CPS Service Learning requirement.
