Alyssa Kalb » Introduction

Excited to be a Viking!
Hello! I am Diverse Learner teacher in the Cluster Program at Amundsen High School. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from DePaul University with a Bachelors of Science in Special Education, with the LBSI Certification and a Minor in Applied Psychology. While I may be newer to teaching, I have worked with children and people with disabilities for over 10 years. In my free time, I volunteer with two organizations committed to the empowerment of kids, teens and adults living with a disability: Best Buddies Inc. and Miss Amazing Inc.
Participating in athletics was a huge part of my educational journey, which was the driving force behind my involvement with the Athletic Department. I am the Head Coach of the Amundsen Special Olympics Team. I believe involvement on campus is a crucial part of any high school experience. Amundsen is a place that offers a vast variety of clubs helping each student find their community within these walls. Being an advocate for involvement, as well as, an advocate for the non-profit organization, I started the Amundsen Best Buddies chapter, with my co-sponsor Ms. Dziedzic, here on campus.
In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my husband and toddler, traveling, reading books with my book club, and watching movies.
For the 2021-2022 Academic School Year, I will be teaching Science, English, and Spanish in the Cluster Program. Please reference Google Classroom for class information.
