I am thrilled to be here for my 5th year at Amundsen. This year I will be teaching MYP Geometry and dual credit PreCalculus.
Geometry is conducive to helping students gain spatial reasoning and truly understanding that mathematics is an abstraction of reality through the use of hands-on tangible applications. Geometry also aids students in developing logical thought processes through the use of proof writing.
Dual Credit PreCalculus allows students to gain college credit through the City Colleges of Chicago. This class will prepare students for success when they study Calculus in college.
A little about my experiences, I am a career-changer, coming from the arts, a retired ballerina, dancing with companies such as Milwaukee Ballet, Ballet Oklahoma and the Joffrey Ballet in Chicago.
Educationally, I have a B.S in Economics and an M.S.T. (Masters of Science in Teaching of Mathematics through the math department) both from UIC.
I was given the opportunity here at Amundsen to use my experience in the dance world by choreographing the first school musical in 10 years, Chicago, 2023. We continued with our second musical, Mamma Mia and last year students took on the roles in the Addams Family Musical. All were successful beyond my expectations! I cannot wait to get started on this years' musical!!!
