Students will learn how homologous structures show evidence of a common ancestor.
Use the “Similarities and differences: understanding homology and analogy” website to complete your student answer sheet. The link is on the attached document. I created a copy for each student so you can answer on your sheet and submit it to this assignment
Today we will have our first live Biology class. I will be discussing work from this week and explaining upcoming work. You are all welcome to join. This will also be a time to ask questions. The class will be recorded, so that students unable to join live can view the class at a later time. Please remember to be respectful during the class. Have your microphone mute on and try not to talk over other people. Each class will have 20 minutes and the schedule is below. I will post the log in code here just before class

Hope everyone had a safe week. Today your task is to help around your home doing laundry, cooking, dishes, cleaning your room, or other helpful tasks. Feel free to send me a picture (with a filter if you would like) of you doing your task or a drawing. Also share how your parents and family responded to your help. Have a great weekend and stay home.
I attached a snapchat picture of me doing the laundry. My daughter was very happy that I folded her clothes

Due:
Today we are going to investigate Botany, which is the study of plants. Today you are going to take a picture of a budding tree and identify the tree. I suggest you go outside. Again keep 6 feet away from any other people. Now that it is Spring, many trees are coming out of dormancy (like hibernation) and starting to bud and grow. Take a picture of the buds on trees, or draw a picture. Look at the bark and the size of the tree. You may want to do this for more than one tree. You will then research one tree. You can use a tree identification app https://www.plantsnap.com/ or you can Google search “how to identify a tree from its bud”. Once you identify your tree, create a tree identification document and submit it to this assignment. Include in your document your tree bud picture or drawing, the name of the tree, a picture of the tree with full leaves and/or flowers, and at least two interesting facts about the tree. I have attached a sample document
Due:
This week I will be posting enrichment activities and checking in with students.
We are investigating Geography today. Your activity for today is:
1. Go to the website http://www.airpano.com/
2. Choose any location that you would like to visit.
3. Take a video tour and learn about your location.
4. Answer the following questions on a document and submit it to this assignment
A. What Location did you decide?
B. Why did you choose this location?
C. What did you learn about this locations that was most interesting?
D. How is this location different from Chicago?
This week students should continue to work on missing work, incomplete work, or redo work. Students should also be working on Khan Academy. Make sure you are checking in everyday for your activity. Email Mr. Stoll if you have questions.

This week I will be posting enrichment activities and checking in with students. Your activity for today is to build a snowman, take a picture of it, and upload it to this assignment. It doesn't have to be big like the one my dog built in the picture. If you don't have much snow you can draw a picture and upload your picture. If you go outside remember to keep at least 6 feet away from other people. This week students should continue to work on missing work, incomplete work, or redo work. Students should also be working on Khan Academy and Personal Projects. Make sure you are checking in everyday for your activity. Email Mr. Stoll if you have questions.
