Due:
Good day! Please review the Slides and take notes. I will be making a video of those slides at some point as I did for the Disaccharides.
Due:
Please use these slides to take notes in the Unit 11 packet or on your own paper. I will be posting a form for you later as a checkin to this assignment. I'm slow this morning and need to get some coffee in me.
Due:
Good day, biologists. Today you are going to do some modeling with either cut pieces of paper or really anything you can find lying around the house. You need to be able to spot carbohydrates, and is some cases, draw. Practicing these models repetitively, and over many days, is the aim for remembering them for a test or quiz. Please do not just upload your pictures and then not practice again. This will count as a Lab grade as we would do a version of this in class. Upload a picture of your model(s) when finished.
Due:
Here is the Unit 10 Quiz that should be taken after completing all work for this week including the FKA. The quiz should be attempted without notes or internet access. I will post the markscheme on Monday.
Due:
Good day. Please finish up the notes in the packet about molecular synthesis.
Due:
Here is what needs to be on the summary:
* Functional groups: carboxyl, amine, hydroxyl and phosphate
* Conventions for drawing of organic molecules (C at "ends and bends")
* Vitamins vs minerals (with examples)
* Outline of urea and its role in disproving vitalism
* Four major groups of biological molecules
-How to identify
-Examples
* Anabolic vs catabolic
* Condensation vs hydrolysis

Please complete this prior to taking the quiz over the weekend. It should guide your studying.
Due:
Good day, biologists. Please use these slides to further your understanding of biomolecules. This is for the last page(s) of the note packet.
Due:
You will be responsible for tracking your nutritional analysis for a 24-hr period and comparing that to recommended allowances. Perhaps this could be a family activity to see how well everyone is doing with nutrition. Just copy a spreadsheet for each participant. This is due next Thursday
Due:
Good day, biologists. I hope you are well. For today, continue with Parts 6 & 7 of the Pattern Matching Lab. I posted a video of a discussion some of us had about Part 2 of the lab. If you are confused, watch it as it will help with other parts.
Due:
Good day, biologists. I hope you are all doing well and I miss you dearly. For today, continue working on The Pattern Matching lab, trying to complete parts 2 and 3 for Monday. I am available for help through email and Chat.
Due:
Good day, biologists. I hope you are all doing well. Today we are going to begin a Pattern Matching Lab to learn to both identify and draw organic molecules. For this activity you will need to print and cut out some molecules which are linked on page 1. I am investigating a way we could do this without printing but nothing yet to share with you on that. The assignment will last until next week but we will have individual assignments along the way. You will be responsible for completing the lab by following and answering questions when prompted in the red rectangles, taking a picture of your lab book (or paper), and uploading that picture to Classroom.
Due:
Use the slides to complete the pages in the packet or on separate paper if you can’t print. Try to include diagrams. Be prepared to "show" this for a stamp. Be well.
Due:
Use the slides assigned to you to answer the questions and then post on Classroom.
Due:
Good day biologists. Today we held a Google Meet where we discussed how to do a T-test. That recorded meeting is linked below along the weekly items (pdf, slides, etc.), shared during the Meet. All of these are also linked in the scheduled posted that was posted for this week on Monday. Please reach out with questions through email or our Chat Room.
Due:
Either in a printed version of the notes or some recreated form of the packet is fine.
Due:
Once you have and taken the quiz and used the markscheme to grade it, please complete the linked Google Form to describe your reflection.
Due:
Please take the Unit 9 quiz and then use the Markscheme to grade your quiz. There will be a form added later for you to enter your score. This is for you to know how well you understood Unit 9 and will not impact your grade.
Due:
Some have asked so I am creating this assignment for those that will be submitting an extra-credit Supplemental Reading Assignment.
Due:
Good day, biologists. I miss you all and hope that you are well at the time you are reading this. On Monday, we will officially begin the "Amundsen HS School Remote Learning Plan" that was shared with the Amundsen community. When you have had a chance to review, you will see that you are scheduled to spend between 12-1 on a science activity, with Thursday being a day for a live activity. As a teacher of well over 100 students, I am unsure how to manage this one hour "live activity" across three different classes. Because of this, I am asking you to complete the attached Google Form to propose that we "meet" live as a class on some other day of the week during that 12-1 time slot. Please rank the days in your preferred order and we will determine our schedule with a democratic vote.
In terms of the 1-2pm "Office Hours" time each day, this is a time for you to ask whatever you might need to ask of me as a teacher during such a time, if we were to actually meet in our classroom. We will use any of the Amundsen approved methods of communication to conduct these interactions during Office Hours. That being said, I want you to know that I am available through email ([email protected]) at almost any point throughout the day, and usually respond in a reasonable amount of time, so please do not ever hesitate to reach out to me there. These are unprecedented times and anticipate many challenges ahead in terms of this remote learning model. We will do our best to make this as positive of an experience that as we can for all. Be well and "see" you Monday!

Due:
I mean a show where people are attempting to earn livings as actors or directors. Not a show where a guy films his buddy jumping off a roof on a pogo stick or shoving hard-boiled eggs in his mouth.
Due:
Good day biologists! Here are slides a few questions to check your understanding of the cohesive and adhesive properties of water. If you get this then you will be able to begin predicting how certain compounds and molecules behave in an organism's internal and external environments.
Due:
Hello biologists. I hope you are home and safe and adjusting to these strange times. Here is an extra credit article on water. Keep checking here for updates.
Due:
I hope you are well. This assignment is in Aspen as MSG. Please take it until you score 100%. I will give you half-credit. All points count and the review is going to be helpful.
Due:
I hope you are all doing well! This is in Aspen as MSG, or you scored low. Please retake until you score and I will get this in for partial credit. The review is always helpful.
Due:
Hello gentlemen! This is MSG in Aspen so take it until you score 100% and I will get it in for half-credit. I hope you are well.
Due:
Good day biologists. I hope you are safe and well. Please try to get to an open space, away from others, and get some exercise. It is good for the brain. Let's see where we stand on the Unit 9 material by completing the FKA. We likely will be moving in to Unit 10 soon.
Due:
You only need to do this if it wasn't submitted when assigned originally. It will be assigned again for partial credit.
Due:
Please take this quiz again if you scored less than 100% on the previous version.
Due:
If you haven't taken this quiz, please do so immediately as it is missing in Aspen. If you scored less than 100%, please take it again until you do so.
Due:
Both the slides and reading log are due on the the 27th of January. The reading log should be printed, signed and placed in the basket at the start of class
