Please fill out the google form below about your topic

Step 1: Read and make notes on China’s “rise”- what is it? Write down the reference as you go.
Step 2: Read and make notes on Mearsheimer’s perspective. What are his key arguments and what evidence does he use to support them? Write down the reference as you go.
Step 3: Read and make notes on Nye’s perspective. What are his key arguments and what evidence does he use to support them? Write down the reference as you go.
Step 4: Put them together. Take the main arguments of each theorist and make connections between them.
Simply put, your essay will have the same structure as the video. A point from one side and then the counterclaim made by the other. It is like a conversation but instead of saying “I disagree with my friend John”, you say “on the other hand, Nye argues that…”.
Step 5: Use these main points as the basis of your essay.
Step 6: Find additional factual evidence to back-up each point- this evidence can be events which have happened, statements given by politicians, or what other realist/ liberal theorists have said. Write down the reference as you go.

Your plane has crashed on a desert island. You have nothing with you but the clothes on your back and whatever is in the plane; you have no food, water, and shelter. The people with you are complete strangers to you; for all you know, they could be thieves or murderers. 
Because you are not a part of any real society and there are no laws, government, and authority telling you what you can and can’t do, you have complete freedom to do whatever you please.
You are living in, what philosophers such as Thomas Hobbes and John Locke called, the “state of nature.”  In the “state of nature,” every man and woman is completely equal and has complete freedom of action.  You all have your natural rights of life, liberty, and property.  However, because there are no formal rules, there is no guarantee that you and your natural rights are secure or safe from one another…

Let’s take what know about Sovereignty and begin applying it to the real world. If we take sovereignty to be the right of states to have full jurisdiction over territory within clearly defined borders then what challenges to sovereignty can we identify? 


 Discuss the impact of NGOs, MNCs and international organizations on State Sovereignty.

Directions: Read the attached two articles dealing with Australia’s recent decision to purchase nuclear submarines from the United States. Using information from the two articles, articulate and summarize the situation through the lens of a Realist and a Liberalist. Make sure to use citations from the articles to support your answer, as well as mentioning the important aspects of each theory and how this certain situation fits into the specific theory you are writing about. Each answer should be a minimum of 4-5 paragraphs. Use CEA (Content, Evidence, Analysis) method to make it easier for you. You can find out information on the theories in the textbook page 32-39

Find two articles about the topic you picked as a contemporary political issue from our 1previous assignment and research its level of analysis. Write a 4-5 sentence summary of the article than go into further detail about the topics level of analysis
