Laura Frcka, Mathematics Instructor

I teach Advanced Algebra with Trigonometry and IB Math Applications and Interpretation I. As the course team lead for Advanced Algebra with Trigonometry, I focus on increasing the depths of knowledge through the use of the Standards of Mathematical Practice. I am also one of the four Change Champions at Amundsen High School trained for the transition to the new ASPEN system. This summer, I became a Google Certified Educator for Level 1 and Level 2.
I am certified to teach high school mathematics, English as a Second Language and middle school mathematics. I graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a major in Mathematics and a minor in English as an International Language. I joined the Chicago Teaching Fellowship and received a master degree from National-Louis University. I am also a proud member of the MSU-Wipro STEM and Leadership Fellowship Cohort 2.
This fall, my oldest is starting 2nd grade while my second child starts kindergarten. I also have a one year old who loves keeping up with her older siblings. Besides spending time with my family, I enjoy being outside in my garden. I have the true honor of receiving the Jordnt Joy of Teaching Award in May 2020.
