My name is Elvia Lopez. I'm very proud of my 22 years as an Educator and School Counselor with Chicago Public Schools. This is my 11th year as a School Counselor at Amundsen High School. I have taught Spanish and AVID in the past. I was born and raised in Chicago. I attended Northeastern Illinois University for my B.A. in Secondary Education and Concordia University for my M.A. in School Counseling. I enjoy working out and sharing time with family and friends. I have completed two marathons and attempted a sprint triathlon.  I love to help students with their academics, college & career exploration and plans, and their social emotional needs. I work to ensure all students are meeting graduation requirements and are on track to have a successful year. I provide various classroom lessons that cover academic, college/career and social emotional needs. I run small groups during the school year to assist students and school. I organize college tours, parent nights, and guest speakers. As a school team member I participate in various teams including the Instructional Leadership, Post-Secondary, Scholarship, Advisory, and much more.
