THIS WEEK | School Spirit!
Homecoming Week is here! Spirit Week runs all week with fun student-chosen theme days to build school pride and celebrate our community. Monday kicks off with Pajama Day, followed by Twin Day on Tuesday where our creative students twin with a peer, a celebrity, or even a pet! Wednesday is Jersey Day, and we close out the week on Thursday with the Battle of the Class Colors, where freshmen wear red, sophomores wear grey, juniors wear white, and seniors wear black. Whether you’re new to Amundsen or a seasoned Viking, this is your chance to work with a motivated team of volunteers to make Amundsen's biggest fundraising event a huge success. Amundsen’s Homecoming Game is one of the most exciting parts of the football season! Join us on this Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Jorndt Stadium as the Vikings take on the Taft Eagles. THIS WEEK | Homecoming Game After Party @ Gio's
AAF is throwing a Homecoming Game After Party at Gio's located at 4857 N. Damen! This is a adults only party and the festivities kick off at 6:30pm. Gio's is a big supporter of Amundsen Athletics and is donating 20% of the night's proceeds. Come out for a great time and great cause! View the flyer here.
THIS WEEKEND | AAF Golf Outing
The Homecoming Golf Classic is here! Come out this Sunday, September 28 to Indian Boundary Golf Course. Foursomes and individual golfers welcome. ON THE FIELD | Athletics This Week
It’s an exciting week for Viking athletics! Monday kicks off with Girls Varsity Golf at Lane Tech (South Shore Golf Course) and Boys Varsity Soccer hosting Taft at Winnemac Stadium. Tuesday is loaded with action with Coed Cross Country runs at Legion Park, Girls Varsity Swimming heads to Westinghouse, Girls Varsity and Sophomore Volleyball take on Kenwood, Girls Varsity Tennis hosts Lake View, and Girls Varsity Flag Football plays Whitney Young at Lane Stadium. Wednesday brings more excitement with Varsity 16" Softball at home against Rickover and Boys Varsity Soccer hosting Solorio at Winnemac Stadium.
Thursday closes out the week in a big way with Boys Varsity Golf at the CPL Championship at Indian Boundary, Boys Varsity Football Homecoming Game v Taft at Winnemac Stadium, Girls Varsity Volleyball hosting Lane Tech, Girls Varsity Tennis at Rickover, and Girls Sophomore Volleyball also at home against Lane.

CELEBRATIONS | Academic Decathlon
Congratulations to our decathletes for participating in the Amundsen High School Viking Scrimmage for Academic Decathlon! 43 students from Amundsen, Lane Tech, Lindblom, and Mather competed virtually. Each student completed 150 multiple choice questions covering: Art, Social Science, and Literature. They spent many hours memorizing dozens of art pieces down to the detail, critically analyzing the book The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and many more shorter selections, and also researching the 1920s and the Jazz Age. AcaDec Coach Mr. Zhu is proud to announce that Amundsen came in 2nd place over all. Please wish our team the best of luck as we compete in person at the Mather High School Ranger Scrimmage on 10/25/2025 testing Music, Math, Economics, and Science!!! UPDATE | Medicaid Only Erie Therapy Group: Parenting Anxious Kids and Teens
Virtual, 4-week therapy group for parents of kids and teens ages 8-18 who have anxiety, OCD, or other related difficulties. This group will use SPACE (Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions) as a framework to learn skills and tools to help parent a child with anxiety. Group will also function as a discussion and support space to connect with other parents who live with anxious kids. Parents will learn to manage their children's anxiety while preserving their parent-child relationship and increasing their child's independence.
Please note: This group is reserved for families utilizing Medicaid insurance.
Tuesdays 12-1pm (9/30, 10/7, 10/14, 10/21) Virtually via Zoom.

SPECIAL RECOGNITION | Celebrating Wynn Khuri!
On behalf of Amundsen High School, we would like to offer a heartfelt apology for a significant oversight that occurred during last spring's chorus concert, when we unfortunately failed to recognize Wynn Khuri for participating in a final performance as an AHS student. We know this was an important milestone for seniors and their families, and we are truly sorry for the disappointment this caused.
Wynn’s dedication and talent have enriched our chorus program, and we are deeply grateful for the time and energy given to Amundsen. Thank you, Wynn, for being such an important part of the Viking Chorus. We are proud of you and wish you the very best in your future endeavors!
