Course Description
IB MYP English 1 is an advanced course that aligns with the curriculum, skills, and objectives of IB MYP Language & Literature Year 4. The goal is for students to become critical thinkers, strong communicators, and internationally minded. Through reading, writing, analysing, and discussion, students develop an increasing understanding of self and others. Students will learn to communicate ideas, information, and reflect on and articulate their thinking and learning, both orally and written. We encourage our students to “dig deep” with analysis, and be inquirers as they read, write, and discuss texts in many forms of media. In order to be balanced and prepared learners, students will also practice ATL work skills in the areas of self-management, organization, social, research, and thinking. Throughout the year in IB MYP English 1, it is of great importance that we build open-minded, caring, and principled students who are prepared to contribute and collaborate effectively in our diverse, international world.
