PART 1: Annotation (10 Points)
-Read the poem “The Miracle of Morning” by Amanda Gorman. In the text, highlight three examples of imagery and two examples of alliteration.

1. Take some time to do your own research regarding what happened on Wednesday, January 6th, at the Capitol in Washington DC. I have provided a list of sources from different media outlets, but I encourage you to search for and use your own sources as well. Read the articles/watch videos, and try to develop an understanding of the events that took place.

2. After you feel you have a better understanding of what happened, start answering the 3 response questions. Feel free to do more research while answering them:

Head: What information do you currently know about the insurrection (defined: a violent uprising against the government) that happened on January 6, 2021? What additional facts or information would you like to have?

Heart: How do you feel about the insurrection and what is happening in the aftermath? Are there particular moments or images that stand out to you?

Conscience: What do you believe was at stake in the events on January 6, 2021? What questions about right and wrong, fairness or injustice, did this insurrection raise for you? How should individuals or politicians act in response to this event?
