Jazman Patterson
Howdy! I’m Jazman Patterson, and I’m from Dallas, Texas. I’m excited to spend my ninth year teaching in Chicago at Amundsen High School. This will be my second year teaching physical and health education. Previously, I taught honors and on-level English I and English II in Plano, Texas. I also taught seventh grade writing and creative writing at the middle school level when I first began my teaching career.
Before I started teaching at the secondary level, I trained employees in various roles as I utilized my mass communication degree. I also proudly played four years of collegiate basketball at Midwestern State University under the late Noel Johnson. From Coach Johnson and various coaches over more than two decades of playing competitive sports, I learned the value of hard work, commitment, building relationships, teamwork, and so much more that empowers me as a coach and an educator today.
I look forward to working with our freshmen and helping them develop and maintain a lifetime of health and fitness. In addition to teaching Physical Education & Health I, I am also a Girls Varsity Basketball Assistant Coach, a GSA sponsor, a Freshmen on Track mentor, and a volunteer and advocate for all things Amundsen. I plan to help both my students and my athletes make this year together at Amundsen spectacular.
