Coach/Mr. McClellan

Hello, my name is Mr. McClellan. To our returning students, welcome back! To our incoming Freshman Vikings, "Welcome to Amundsen High School!" I look forward to the time I will spend with you as your Physical Education Teacher. Yes I know, my last name can be a bit of a tongue twister. So, if you struggle with pronouncing Mr. Mc-Cle-llan please feel free to call me Coach or Coach Tony. This will be my fourth year as a Health and Physical Education teacher and Girls & Boys Track and Field Coach, and my seventh year as the Girls' Swim Coach here at Amundsen. Over the last six years, I have led our Girl's Swim team to 4 conference titles and look forward to adding more to that record.

A little bit about myself and my background. My passion for working with teens stems from 12 years as a Sports Instructor for the After School Matters (ASM) Sports 37 program. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Physical Education and a minor in Health Education from Northeastern Illinois University in 2017. I spent my first two and a half years as an educator teaching Pre-K through 8th Grade at Hamline Elementary School under Erik Olson (former Amundsen V.P.) in Chicago's southwest side Back of the Yards neighborhood. I believe this experience working with elementary-level students makes me a perfect candidate to work with and usher in our incoming freshmen to their high school careers. Some of my passions include swimming, CrossFit, snowboarding, camping, hiking, kayaking, paddleboarding, and bike riding. I look forward to sharing some of these passions with our Amundsen H.S. Students!
