Rebecca Bean

Ms. Bean attended Bowling Green State University in Ohio, majoring in education, with minors in history and theater. She later earned her master's in educational technology. She moved to Chicago the day after graduating college to pursue her dream of teaching in a large city and building a high school theater program from the ground up. Currently, she teaches all theater courses at Amundsen and previously taught US History classes. Her proudest accomplishment is founding the Viking Theater Company, which she had run since 2018. The VTC just finished its 7th production, a smash-hit rendition of Chicago. In her free time, she enjoys sewing and renovating their home, when not chasing around the Bean family’s new puppy. She is excited to see how the theater program will grow at Amundsen with all of the support of her family, students, parents, guardians, fellow teachers, and community members.
