8th Biology I S1 2021-Englund/Prindiville Assignments

Use this self-checking Google Sheet to make sure you are ready for the quiz on FRIDAY covering Punnett Squares, including one Sex Linked Punnett Square problem.  


You must read the directions and USE THE NUMBERS from the WORD BANK as your answers to vocab questions as well as the Punnett Squares.  If you are asked to COUNT how many you have of a certain genotype, you type that actual number in (not from the word bank).

Go through the Google Slides, reading all the important intro to genetics notes, removing the colored text boxes so I know you are reading, and using the slides to fill out the two pages of Genetics notes handed out in class.  If you are absent, you can print the notes sheet included below.  


Practice the genetics concepts by dragging words, pictures, check marks to complete each slide.  I will be grading this assignment so please turn in when you reach the "STOP for Day 1" slide.  We will work on the remaining slides on paper in class Tuesday.

Using our knowledge and notes from Lesson 3, do the practice in the following order:


1.  DNA replication, which means copying DNA into another strand of DNA
2. Transcription of DNA into RNA
3.  Translation of the RNA into amino acids that string together to form a protein using the codon wheel.


These are Google Sheets that will automatically change color and create a pixel art if you are entering the correct answers.  Only today in class to work on this, press submit when finished.

10/19 we will investigate the different phases of the cell cycle and mitosis.  We will watch an introductory video from the slides together, and then you will identify the different phases of the cell cycle on each slide in cancerous and non-cancerous tissue.  You will count the number of cells in each phase of the cell cycle and add them to your paper data table.  Finish ALL DATA COLLECTION today.


10/20 today we will analyze our data and perform the SEP of Computational and Mathematical Thinking.  We will use our data to write a CER, using the SEP of "Engaging in Argument from Evidence".
