The Amundsen School-Based Health Center is a partnership between Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and Amundsen High School. The goal of the Health Center is to improve the physical and emotional health of Amundsen students and teach them life-long positive health behaviors. Students must have a signed parental/guardian consent form on file before they can receive services at the Health Center.
During the 2005-2006 school year, Amundsen Health Center provided over 2000 individual office visits and had over 2600 student contacts through group visits. More than 90% of students who attended Amundsen had a signed parental consent form on file.
Health Center staff are employees of Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Providers include Family Physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Psychologists, Health Educators, and a Medical Assistant. The Health Center is open Monday through Friday during school hours.
The staff of the Health Center consider parental involvement important. Every student is encouraged to involve their parent(s)/guardian(s) in health care decisions.
